Hi, this is Arca. Today, I will talk about a topic that is very serious, which is not what I usually post about. (I like to have to write about fun things!) A few days ago, my friend Xiang got an email from one of the township officials. They said that a neighbor claimed that one of his chickens had walked into their garage and that his chickens would be removed in 2 weeks. He was devastated at this news. His family has become very attached to their chickens. The first time they owned baby chicks, they were attacked and killed by a neighborhood dog. They got more chicks from a farm. Xiang and Liang's grandfather designed and built the coop himself. They didn't want to have to lose their beloved pets again. He has only kept them for less than a year, and they are very young.
I decided to do something about the injustice of the situation. I created a petition on Change.org that would be sent to the New Jersey government to ensure that the Meng family would not lose their chickens. After all, how would you like it if somebody took away your pet dog or cat? It has gained over 170 supporters in only 48 hours, and that is insane!
Even though the chickens may have passed their property, they caused no harm. I believe that the Mengs should be able to keep their chickens, as long as they keep them only in their backyard.
Now it is your turn to help! Click the link at the top of this post to sign the petition! It will ask for your full name, email address, and your home address. You may skip the home address part if you are uncomfortable doing so by just writing in something like "5g". We only have 2 weeks to let this happen! Spread the news!
